I'm hoping to find players in the Balto-Wash region. I live in between Baltimore and Annapolis.

Particularly for Attack Vector and American Megafauna (and I hope eventually High Trader).

Anybody out there?

Thanks... TomR

Tom,

I'm in Columbia, MD.

I'm looking to get a try at SITS, but AV:T would do as well.

I've recently established a gaming club at my place of work, and may have both dedicated place and time for some learning/gaming sessions.

Noam

I live in Arlington VA and work in DC. I went out to Origins to get a look at SITS and got a chance to play some AV:T. Bought SITS and wouldn't be adverse to playing AV:T. Might be able to bring in some additional players from a gaming group that does age of sail gaming (Close Action).

After all, SITS is just sailing ships in 3D. >:)

You might and might not be able to bring in the Close Action crew; Mark Campbell, at least, wasn't overly taken by AV:T due to the level of detail. I suspect he'd enjoy the Fleets version more, if/when it gets its wrinkles shaken out. :)

Hi, all. AV:T newbie here, but I'm looking forward to giving the game a spin with some friends in a few weeks. I live in Rockville, Maryland, and work in Fairfax, VA. Fresh meat, boys!

Close Action

Speaking of Close Action, I've played a bit of it solitaire and with a friend, but if there's a group that plays (more or less) locally I'd be interested in hearing more. I think it'd be fun to participate in a fairly large fleet action.

caveat

Of course, time is short; I have a two-year-old, a job, a couple of game nights each week, and I try to maintain some approximation of a social life. But schedules can be manipulated...

The designer of Close Action, Mark Campbell, lives in the DC area, and periodically runs events.

I *highly* reccomend the events he runs - lots of fun. :)

I'll put you in touch with him (via email).

Do you actually have a session planned in a few weeks, or do you want to organize one?

I think most of us around here fall in the "fresh meat" category... AV:T is a deep game and I'm sure there are newbie mistakes I still haven't made. But I know the rules pretty well, and I'm glad to teach.

If you have both a two-year-old and a couple of game nights a week, I reckon you're doing very well indeed...

PM me and perhaps we can get together.

It's planned in the abstract; we haven't settled on a date yet. A friend moved to PA last year, he wants to come down and we have another cohort from PG County who'll play as well. We'll probably do AV:T and maybe some other stuff as well. Assuming it's not a total disaster, though, I expect we'd be open for a dedicated AV:T event in future. I'll ping you when we get organized...

Leland,

Please let me know when you have a date selected, too, if you don't mind.

Thanks.

Actually, based on evolving schedule resolution with the Spousal Overunit and my partners-in-crime, it's looking like we are actually going to do this on Monday Feb. 20th (I need to burn a vacation day anyway). So I'm guessing it'll probably be just us for this first session. But I'll definitely post here with reactions, and I'll drop a note here to discuss scheduling another event.

I'd love to organize a Balto-Wash AV:T session... or failing that, attend one organized by someone else.

Unfortunately, I don't have a single free weekend day until at least June 10. I do have weekday evenings available, including a few Fridays.

Is anybody planning anything?
