Any idea of the circumstances under which it did not remove the fields?

In our (quick and limited) testing on Monday evening, the fields did not appear in Internet Exploder.

It had to do with my forum forcing people to use the SpacePilot3K theme. I emailed author of the mod and he got it all fixed for me in 3 minutes. But since now it seems this forum is defaulting to the default subsilver theme, the mod probably works fine.

Matt -- yes -- it's extra work for Chaim to update each scheme, because each scheme gets updaed separately.

If you sweet-talk Chaim he might update your favorite scheme as well. :)

We're also seeing another upsurge in improper registrations with dodgy emails, so the spambots may have figured their way around this latest defense now. It shows here due to Ken's strict name rules; might not be apparent at Star Ranger.

That's life in an adaptive universe. :? :)

I'll live - Chaim has enough work to do. The main reason I liked it is because I knew if I didn't see it that I wasn't logged in.

Guess I'll just have to look for my actual name next to the "Log out" link.

;-)

You might want to remove another one in the SITS General discussion.

Not appropriate for all ages.

Another one in the Sits general discussion, you might want to get rid of.

Well, I do share it with Ken. Kind of like a tag team.

And it isn't entirely thankless - there are messages such as yours, and also the knowledge that we've got a message board that's worth visiting - polite, friendly, and free of spam....

Would it be less work, I wonder, to require manual authentication of new users?

We're averaging about 2-3 legitimate new users per week. We're averaging 4-6 spammers per day.
